We are thrilled we were able to support Football For Good youth academy in Uganda with soccer cleats. This was a terrific opportunity to support a group that not only provides sport for youth but is also enhancing the academic programs for these young student athletes.
This December, PIF delivered baseball equipment to a youth program in San Nicholas, Aruba. This donation was made possible with the support of Subway Aruba, Office Systems Aruba and Cargo International.
A Playing It Forward volunteer recently visited Uganda and delivered soccer equipment. She visited a home that works to keep youth off the streets as well as an orphanage for youth who lost their parents to AIDS.
PIF Founder, David Cohen and Subway Aruba Franchisee Owner, Jaime Maduro had the pleasure of delivering baseball equipment to support youth Little League programs on the island. Darryl Yrausquin, President of the Aruba Baseball Federation along with Aruba Little League representatives Rudy Donata, Rayborn Didder and former Major League player, Eugene Kingsale were on hand to receive the equipment.
David Cohen, Founder of Playing It Forward, delivers squash rackets to Tariq Mohammed of Kidsquash (Cambridge, MA) and Khelshala (India). Both squash programs make the game inclusive by exposing the young to a new activity while empowering them in life and sport.
This summer Playing It Forward provided equipment in support of the African Basketball Organizations (ABO) camps in Lagos, Nigeria.
In June, kids in Nicaragua were the recipients of soccer and basketball equipment delivered by volunteers.
Members of the 4th grade class at a North Shore elementary school in Massachusetts gathered with Playing It Forward founder, David Cohen, to kick off their weeklong collection of sports equipment for disadvantaged children. David had an opportunity to address over 90 students and answer questions about the organization and those that will be impacted by their efforts. Cohen commented, “This was a terrific opportunity to visit with the students and to support their initiative. It is quite powerful to see kids at this age interested in getting involved and giving back to those less fortunate. I hope this is only the beginning of their community service and involvement and that these students will positively impact others in many ways in the years to come.”
Playing It Forward’s Director of Southeastern Operations, Jodi Cohen, recently delivered sports equipment to El Sol in Jupiter, Florida. El Sol is committed to promoting strong economically and ethnically diverse communities in which all people can achieve their highest potential.
